Silent Room 2016

Dutch London-based artist Simon Heijdens‘ “Silent Room,” premiered at SXSW 2016, is an interactive art piece designed to emphasize the aural and visual opposite of the festival through sensory deprivation.¬† Students within the Graduate¬†Acoustics Program, Matthew Zeh and Fiona Cheung, served as acoustical designers and consultants for the project.¬† With guidance from Dr. Preston Wilson and material provided by Auralex Acoustics, Matt and Fiona designed an acoustically suspended, decoupled space within a shipping container used to house the art piece.
